Meaning of a Rose
The gift of roses is a thoughtful gesture that surely everyone will appreciate. But throughout the years, roses have held individual significance. For example, a single rose is thought to send the message “I love you.” And in Victorian times, the differing colors of roses were used to carry significant meanings among secret lovers.
Red roses, of course, have long been thought to symbolize love, passion, romance and courage. White roses symbolize reverence, purity and truth, although when you combine both red and white together, these dual colors are believed to symbolize unity. Yellow roses stand for joy, gladness and friendship. Deep pink or peach roses are meant to say thank you or express appreciation, while coral roses mean desire and lavender roses convey love at first sight. But the most important meanings of sending roses are elegance, thoughtfulness and generosity, which are universal, regardless of color.
